LIGHT - Paper and Poster Training + Debate Competition

Technology has developed rapidly in this globalization era, causing a lot of changes in the society. As everyone differs in their own opinions, there are pros and cons to each change caused by the globalization and technology. Which made us to choose the theme of this event as LIGHT “Living in Globalized Headlines and Technology”. Hereby, we provide the means for student to debate about technology and globalization, so that high school students may develop their critical thinking skills. Another event held simultaneously with the debate competition is the Paper and Poster Training, a comprehensive one day training. As college students, we will have to write a thesis as one of the requirements to graduate. Which is why, it is important for us to know in advance the right steps on writing the thesis. With that background, AMSA-UPH provides the opportunity for medical students to learn about the making of paper and poster training.

Both events were held on Saturday, 30th January 2016. Starting from 08.00 am until 1 pm, at Faculty of Medicine’s new building, 2nd floor. The debate competition was joined by 7 groups of debaters from 4 different schools. Jonathan De Lian as the event chairman opened the event with prayer and speech, welcoming the senior high school debaters. As the event proceed, the debaters went head to head with each other’s debate team. In the final round, SMAN 2 Jakarta went against Sekolah Dian Harapan B, with SMAN 2 Jakarta as the first place winner and Ariel Nathaniel from SMAN 2 Jakarta as the best speaker.

While the Paper and Poster Training was attended by 50 medical students. The event consists of 4 sessions: systematic review workshop, research proposal, photoshop workshop, and finance proposal. With Matthew Billy (The #1 Most Outstanding Student in Rumpun Ilmu Kesehatan UI), Prio Wibisono (President of Medical SECRET Research Club UPH 2015/2016), Desak Made Nugrahartani (Secretary of PnP AMSA-Indonesia 2015/2016), and Laksmi Indira Trishanti (Secretary of Finance AMSA-Indonesia 2015/2016) as the speaker for the sessions held respectively.
